In this essay, Sonia reflects on a contrast within her family: her grandfather left a travelogue that made his life accessible to later generations, while her father left translations of others’ work but no sustained account of his own.在這篇文章裏，胡桃回望家族中的兩種遺產：祖父留下的遊記，讓後人能夠認識他；父親一生翻譯了他人的作品，卻沒有系統記錄自己的人生。

That absence helped motivate her work in family memoir and her mother’s oral history. The project connects migration, everyday memories and historical change, asking how families can preserve voices for future readers.這一缺憾推動了她的家族回憶錄寫作與母親口述歷史記錄。通過移民經歷、日常記憶與時代變遷，這項實踐探索如何爲後代保存家族的聲音。
